Storybook Woodland Garden
The wilder portions of the garden are comprised of mammoth stone formations flanked by various species of Japanese maples for autumnal interest.
A rustic stonewall of repurposed granite fieldstone flats that were found on site, and topped with Black River wallstone, delineates the woodland from the gracious lawn that envelopes the home. In the background the monolith placed as sculptural interest can be seen.
An intimate garden alongside the home was devised using the aforementioned fieldstone flats to create planting pockets and then planted up with casual long-lasting perennials.
Cottage Garden on Webster Lake
A sweet lakeside cottage with a patio of sedimentary quartzite and steps that meet up at a central landing make for a cohesive design.
Fine pea gravel in between large slabs of sedimentary quartzite help with drainage and balance the simplistic design.
The plantings were kept natural with Perovskia, Eryngium, Miscanthus, Dianthus, Armeria and various ferns among the candidates.
Snowshoe Hill Garden
Pathways of bluestone, slate, and cobbles snake around the garden, delineating and aiding in drainage as well.
Springtime in the front garden, uplit and dramatic, with a palette of mostly whites and bright greens.
Lotus planted poolside in marginal containers alongside swaths of Hakone grass make for showstopping guests in late summer.
The Stroll Garden
An aerial view of the stroll garden designed with large slabs of sedimentary quartzite and generous mossy areas.
The Wabi-sabi stonewall and steps lead up to the front garden, and a raked gravel garden runs alongside the pathway.
Japanese surface drains were incorporated into the scheme for extra drainage and the plantings featured assorted ferns, Hakone grass and anemones.
